What I'm Doing Now - Feb 2024

Updated on 2024-02-28 Wednesday from Tokyo, Japan

The first two weeks were warm, way too warm for winter clothes; perhaps a portent of the summer ahead..

Temperatures are now back to ’normal’ for this time of year (10C daytime high).

Here’s how my month looked to date:

Finished reading William Gibson’s Pattern Recognition. Set in the post 9/11 Internet era (Dial-up internet access, I know you well!) Part 1 of the Blue Ant trilogy, I may return to the other two books at some point.
I’m now reading Christopher Priest’s 1974 Sci-Fi classic, Inverted World. (Mr Priest passed away this month.)
“The enemy of art is the absence of limitations” - this Orson Welles quote speaks to the writer within loud and clear.
Devoured the three method writing books I mentioned last month, and am now putting the method into practice. More about this in future NOW updates and in my monthly newsletter.
I published one sci-fi short story and two flash fiction pieces online this month. All three came from writing challenges I participated in at “sffchronicles.com”.
The stories can be read on my web3 site: “markmcclure.xyz”.

That’s it for this month.

The next NOW update will be published on 28 March, 2024.

Be well, and be happy.
